Veterans are being urged to stay home for services if at all possible in face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The VA healthcare system requests that veterans use online tools for routine or non-urgent questions, reported Finger Lakes 1.

“We encourage our veterans to use ‘buddy checks’ with each other to ensure that no one feels alone as we adjust to the realities of social distancing,” Director of Livingston County Veteran Services Jason Skinner said. “The term ‘buddy check’ is commonly used in the military for a simple checkup or a friendly ‘how are you’.”

The VA is also offering an Emotional Support Line at 1-844-863-9314. All calls to the line are confidential.
