When Brie Thomas heard some disabled veterans were going without meals due to supply issues related to COVID-19, she knew she had to use her meal-prep business for good.

“We have found that there are a lot of people in need who are going without food. That’s just not okay,” Thomas said to NBC San Diego.

Thomas owns “We Love Meal Prep,” a meal-prep service in San Diego, California and has recently begun using her knowledge and expertise to make extra meals every night to hand out to disabled veterans who are unable to get what they need at the grocery store. Since last week, she has been making 100 meals a day with volunteer chef Anthony Young and delivering them to veterans herself.

Initially, Thomas covered the cost of veterans’ meals with her own money, but donations have started coming in on the “We Love Meal Prep” website.

“So far, we’ve raised $3,000,” she said. “It feels really good.”

“Our standards are super high and we’re also taking extra precautions with sanitation. We’re going to keep it up for as long as the need is there, Thomas assured.
