A non-profit in Henderson County, North Carolina will soon be able to upgrade their facilities thanks to a grant through Carolina Farm Credit’s Corporate Mission Fund.

The Veterans Healing Farm was founded in 2014 with the goal of providing a supportive community to military veterans during their transition back into the civilian sector. At the farm, participating veterans grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers, which they then donate to other veterans and their caregivers.

Additionally, participating veterans are encouraged to participate in workshops on innovative gardening techniques, which helps foster this “thriving micro-community of veterans and civilians who build deep friendships and cultivate emotional, physical and spiritual health.”

The Carolina Farm Credit’s Corporate Mission Fund grant will be used by the farm to purchase an outdoor playground for children of veterans attending the workshops and other farm events, improving upon the already family-friendly atmosphere of this non-profit and community.

“Our Corporate Mission Fund is another way that Carolina Farm Credit strives to enhance agriculture and the rural communities in North Carolina.” said Vance Dalton, CEO, Carolina Farm Credit, “These grants help provide funding for many great organizations across our territory.”
