Deleware State Police are investigating a possible shooter after gunfire erupted at Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear on Friday morning.

New Castle County Police were asking residents of the area to shelter-in-place as of 2 p.m. today as they continue to search for the alleged gunman, reported CBS Philly.

A perimeter has been established around where the shooter is and Gov. John Carney called the shooting “heartbreaking.”

“Really sad news to think of that kind of event in what is sacred ground for the men and women who served our country,” Carney said.

As of 2:15 p.m. on Friday, the motives behind the alleged shooting are not known.
