WWII veteran makes full recovery after COVID-19 diagnosis

95-year-old WWII veteran Bill Kelly has made a full recovery after being diagnosed with COVID-19. 

Kelly, who stormed the beaches of Guam alongside Marines in 1944, was declared fully recovered Monday after testing positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago. 

Kelly fell ill on March 15th and tested positive for COVID-19 on March 17th, sending his entire family into a two week quarantine. Despite the virus’s deadly reputation, Kelly started to feel better after just one week, and even kept up his family’s spirits by blasting the “Polka Chicken Dance,” from his quarantine bedroom. 

“My grandpa is tough, and he has a faith of steel, and he’s as chipper and sassy as ever,” Kelly’s granddaughter, Rose Etherington, told Military Times.

“I survived the foxholes of Guam, I can get through this coronavirus bulls–t,” Kelly said.

“His dream is to see Americans supporting one another through this time,” Rose said. “He likes to see that old American fight again! And he plans on being around to enjoy it!” she said.

“He believes God gave him a job to do, and that he’s not going home until he finishes that job.”
