The fifth graders at Cornerstone Christian Academy collected and gave out almost 500 care packages to local veterans in Abingdon, Virginia this week.

According to WCYB News, the fifth graders put together socks, snacks, puzzles, books, and hygiene products to give out to the veterans at the Mountain Home VA in Johnson City as part of ‘Operation Blessing,’ an organization “dedicated to demonstrating God’s love by alleviating human need and suffering in the United States.”

“This is such a special project for our fifth-graders because it gives them a unique opportunity to express their love and appreciation for our veterans, who have given so much for us,” said Jessica Edwards, Cornerstone Christian Academy’s fifth-grade teacher.

“God provided exactly what we needed through students, parents, CCA families, local churches, local business and anonymous givers. We’re so grateful to the individuals and groups that contributed to this worthy cause so that our youth could go out and minister to our heroes.”
