Okaloosa County, Florida is building a new veterans memorial at Veterans Park, but it isn’t just any memorial, this statue installation is dedicated specifically to veteran women. 

The county plans to finish the memorial of eight bronze statues by Veterans Day 2021, which will honor eight incredible women chosen for their significant military service contributions during periods of major conflicts throughout U.S. history.

The eight women were chosen by the county Women’s Veteran Memorial Advisory Committee: 

Revolutionary War / Margaret Corbin

Civil War / Cathay Williams:

World War I / Lenah Higbee:

World War II / Jacqueline Cochran:

Korean War / Jonita Bonham:

Vietnam War / Sharon Lane Persian:

Gulf War / Leigh Ann Hester:

War in Afghanistan / Nasima Dada:

The eight statues will line the walking trail at the 17.5 acre Veterans Park, close to the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Convention Center and Choctawhatchee Bay.
