Veterans Showcase

Veterans In Trucking was pleased to honor veteran truck drivers with a showcase that featured veteran-themed-truck wraps at the 50th anniversary of MATS 2022 in Louisville, Kentucky. Each wrap reflected the driver, featuring symbols that recognized that driver’s branch and service.

Veterans In Trucking President Randy Dye shared that the showcase was “a wonderful success. It was neat to see all of the showcase drivers come together in true military fashion. They had never met before, but they became friends in no time… The veteran drivers will be wonderful ambassadors, because their trucks represent more than just the rigs; they are symbolic of the drivers themselves, their commitment to the country and their service.”

Trucking is among the most patriotic industries in the nation, and the companies that participated in partnering with Veterans In Trucking worked hard to honor their veteran drivers. Daniel Crabtree of CFI said that, “Veterans In Trucking was a highlight for a lot of attendees at the Mid-America Trucking Show! Thank you to your team for making it such a success! We here at CFI were proud to be a part of it. Looking forward to seeing what is in store for next year!”

NASCAR Experience Giveaway

As part of the event, veterans that visited the VIT showcase entered a raffle to win an experience driving a racecar on a NASCAR track. As a special honor during the course of the weekend, famed Richard Petty, who is nicknamed, “The King of Racing” for his success on the track, circled up with veteran drivers in the VIT showcase to take photos.

Veterans In Trucking wants to congratulate Bruce Truax for winning the NASCAR experience! And we thank you for your service. Clean Harbors was proud to sponsor the giveaway: Chris Gonzalez of Clean Harbors commented that, “With over 12% of Clean Harbors drivers being veterans we definitely show our support for our country’s heroes: We don’t just help them drive their truck we help drive their careers.”

PKY Awards

One of the highlights of MATS for attendees every year is the PKY Awards. The Awards Ceremony included entries into Best of Show, People’s Choice, and other awards. The truck beauty contest has been held for thirty years, and is a crowd favorite. This year’s Truck Beauty Contest event boasted a record number of entries:

Veterans In Trucking awarded the People’s Choice Award through popular recognition to Trucking Proz driver Terry Parkinsonl. Drivers were invited to drive in a parade called the “Circle of Champions, which traditionally closes out the MATS event festivities.
