An organization of Owner Operators has contributed some serious cash to help honor our fallen troops this year.
Earlier this month, the National Association of Independent Truckers (NAIT) donated a total of $50,000 to Wreaths Across America, a national nonprofit aimed at expanding the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetary each year.
The funds will be used by Wreaths Across America to pay for the fuel of Owner Operators who wish to transport wreaths to one of the nearly 1,700 cemeteries participating in Wreath’s Across America Day this Holiday Season.
“Fuel assistance is extremely important to me,” said Owner Operator Justin Schoot, who participates in the distribution of wreaths each year.
“Every year I donate my time and truck because I believe the Wreaths Across America effort is a worthy cause. Some years are [financially] better than others, and the fact that NAIT donates money to help supplement fuel costs allows me as a sole owner operator to honor our fallen troops,” Schoot said.
“Our reliance on independent truck drivers cannot be understated when talking about the success of National Wreaths Across America Day,” said Director of Transportation for Wreaths Across America, Don Queeney.
“With this generous donation from NAIT, professional drivers who might not have had the means to participate, now will be able to join the mission.”
2019 will make the fourth year in a row that NAIT has contributed to Wreaths Across America’s mission.
