Transportation and relocation company UniGroup has been awarded a portion of a $7.2 billion contract to aid them in providing relocation services for the Department of Defense and the US Coast Guard.
UniGroup, parent company of United Van Lines, is one of several ‘strategic partners’ that will provide worldwide relocation services for military members and their families. The multi-year contract was awarded by the U.S. Transportation Command, reported St. Louis Business Journal.
UniGroup, with the help of their daughter companies United Van Lines and Mayflower Transit, uses a network of 500 small business agents to facilitate 40,000 military family moves each year.
“UniGroup’s network of agents have been serving military members and their families for more than 75 years,” UniGroup President and CEO Marc Rogers said.
“As the largest household goods moving organization, I’m excited to have an opportunity to significantly improve our U.S. service members’ relocation experience. Our service men and women sacrifice themselves to protect our freedom and deserve the industry’s best technological solutions and customer experience.”
