Northway Church in Clifton Park, New York hosted a drop-off food drive Friday to help feed local homeless veterans and their families.

Northway partnered with Veterans Community and Housing Coalition (VCHC) in Ballston Spa, New York to collect food in the church parking lot from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 24th. All collected donations are to be given directly to VCHC, which provides beds to homeless veterans, and will be distributed to these veterans and their families.

In order to comply with social distancing guidelines, masked and gloved church members walked up to the cars offering donations to prevent people from needing to leave their cars.

Fresh produce, non perishables, and microwave meals were collected.

“In the past few weeks, more than 150 Veterans and military families have come to rely on our food pantry. We are committed to helping homeless Veterans attain and maintain permanent housing, achieve financial stability, have access to health care and, equally important, regain their dignity. It’s through the kindness of community members of the Northway Church that we can put food on our veterans’ tables. We could not do this alone!” said Michelle Straight, Director of Community Relations at Veterans & Community Housing Coalition.
