A free program in San Diego, California is helping veterans heal through physical fitness programs. 

Movement RX, a program that creates specialized functional fitness programs for everyone ranging from veterans to first responders to civilians. 

“They can come and train with us and do strength and conditioning work, which is essentially important for anyone in their life, whether you’re trying to recover from osteoporosis to wanting to train for a sport,” Movement RX founder, Theresa Larson.

Movement RX has teamed up with the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide the Adaptive Warrior Fitness class free for veterans up to three times a week, reported ABC 10

“We’ve seen veterans, adaptive athletes, come off their pain medication, we’ve seen them smile more, we’ve seen them make friends,” said Larson.

Civilians interested in the fitness class can also participate at a reduced rate.To get started, you can call (619) 210-0945, email [email protected], or simply show up early to class with your VA ID or DD-214 card.
