Citizens of Long Neck, Delaware turned out to celebrate Navy veteran Herbert Faulls’ 100th birthday today with a socially distanced parade.
Members of the Eastgate Presbyterian Church drove through Faulls’ neighborhood honking their horns and shouting birthday wishes at the WWII Navy veteran, who lost his wife Ellen of 71 years a little more than a year ago, reported WBOC News.
“I made it,” he said. “I love every one of them,” Faulls continued. “I’ll never forget it.”
He credits his long life and health to his strong faith.
“It was several members of the church that put it together,” says Jim Thistle of Millsboro. “We did it because we love Herb and how many people do we know that make it to 100?”
“He does his own lawn work,” says Pastor Gary Knapp. “We try to help him with that. He doesn’t want us to do that. We have an outdoor service. He’s there every Sunday morning helping carry sound equipment.”
