Honoring Vietnam Veterans

Veterans In Trucking is thrilled to join forces with Waypoint Vets and FASTPORT to offer Vietnam veterans within the transportation industry an opportunity to return to the country they served in outside the context of war.

Participating veterans will experience the beauty of the land and culture. This trip will feature outdoor adventures which may range from a jungle hike to kayaking in the Mekong delta. We will honor the service of our Vietnam veterans and the sacrifice of their brothers and sisters by visiting monuments and museums dedicated to remembering the war. The final itinerary will be tailored to the unique needs of the selected veterans. This is an opportunity to redefine each participant's relationship with the country and people of Vietnam decades after the war.

Ho Chi Minh City

Formerly known as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City offers unique cultural and culinary experiences. Visit sacred pagodas, bustling markets, and other historical sites. Enjoy classic Vietnamese cuisines such as bahn mi sandwiches and pho. Sample other unique dishes on a tour of Ho Chi Minh City’s famous street food. Indulge in chef-prepared meals as you experience the city’s nightlife.

Cu Chi Tunnels

Remember the extraordinary courage of U.S. military’s “Tunnel Rats” as you explore the underground Cu Chi Tunnels. Experience part of the vast Viet Cong labyrinthine tunnel system, built to house and move entire troops under the thick mountain jungles.

This may be a challenging and healing event. The group will take time to process their experience together in open discussion facilitated by our experienced guide team.

Experience the Vietnamese Countryside

The group will take day trips outside of Ho Chi Minh City to experience a slower pace of life. Our capable guide team will select outdoor adventures customized to the interests and mobility of the selected veterans. Possible adventures include gentle hiking, exploring waterfalls, kayaking, canoeing, and enjoying time on tropical beaches.

War Museums

Participating veterans will have the opportunity to visit museums dedicated to the war and its impact on the country. These museums are presented from the perspective of the Vietnamese and offer a chance to humanize our once adversary turned trusted trade partner. Open group discussion will aid in confronting the impacts of war on both sides.

We are on a mission to unite and honor veterans in trucking. We invite carriers to partner with us as we look to serve our veterans in the trucking industry.

Who is the event open to?

Mission Veteran Expedition is open to anyone that’s served in the US military and is now in the trucking industry.

How fit do attendees need to be?

All activities are designed to accommodate any fitness comfort level and are extremely accessible.

How do I apply?

Lodging

Depending on scheduling, lodging will range from luxury hotels to adventurous liveaboard accommodations floating along Vietnam’s spectacular coast.

Transportation

Attendees will fly or drive into the expedition rally point in Las Vegas, NV where they will meet the Mission Veteran Expedition guide team. All other transportation will be facilitated during the retreat.

Dining

Outstanding Vietnamese cuisine at top-tier restaurants and unique opportunities to sample their famous street food.
