Kyle Erickson of Minot, North Dakota has always had an interest in veterans and their stories, and now he wants to do something about it.

Erickson has put out an invitation to all veterans in North Dakota, hoping they will speak to him about their experiences in war and allow him to record the interview for his new Youtube channel featuring North Dakota War Heroes.

While he is interested in all veterans and their stories, he has a particular interest in Vietnam veterans, reported Minot Daily News.

“So many of them didn’t get a chance to tell their story because they were never welcomed home,” he said.

“A lot of guys got rid of their clothes and any proof they ever were in Vietnam because they were called baby killers and spit on… They’re all heroes.”

While Erickson has a particular interest and respect for Vietnam War veterans, he also looks forward to speaking to veterans of more recent wars, including the Gulf War and Desert Storm.

Erickson plans to do most interviews in a reserved room at the Minot Public Library, but veterans from out of town are also encouraged to participate, in which case private lodging with volunteers could be arranged.

Participating veterans will be able to speak about whatever they would like and even share old pictures, which will also be included in the videos.

“We want you to be yourself,” said Erickson. “(We’re) not going to do any bleeping.”
